William Penn land grant dated 1690. The classic Bucks County stone home, built in three sections, was begun in 1723 and completed in 1797. By 1790 the property, seat of the Warner-Thompson families, was an impressive three hundred acre home-stead known as “Warnerland”. Two immense barns were added in about 1820 and the property was worked as a dairy farm by the Thompson-Warner families well into the 20th Century. Fortunes turned, however, and, ultimately, the property was sold at sheriff’s sale for $370.91 following the Great Depression. Greatly diminished, it passed through a number of hands before it was acquired in 1980 by Renny Reynolds and Jack Staub. The restoration of the historic property and the institution of the gardens were started that same year.
